Marja Matinmikko-Blue is Research Director of Infotech Oulu Institute and Director of Sustainability and Regulation at 6G Flagship. She is also member of the International Scientific Advisory Board of NextG2Com.
On the program day she will touch upon how a multi-disciplinary approach can contribute to the development of future communication systems. Increasing geopolitical tension, societal needs, sustainability concerns, and regulatory burden have challenged companies’ ability to remain profitable and grow in Europe, which calls for broadening traditional engineering research in the development of future technologies. The presentation will provide experiences of multi-disciplinary multi-stakeholder collaboration gained in 5G and 6G research and development in Finland by combining technical, business and regulation perspectives towards a sustainable future. The presentation will present challenges faced in the multi-disciplinary research collaboration as well as examples of success stories.
The NextG2Com Program Day takes place on September 25, 2025 in E:B, E-building, Lund University Faculty of Engineering. The Program Day will also comprise information about the NextG2Com competence center, recent progress, a poster session with companies and PhD students, and thematic workshops in smaller groups.
