NextG2Com brings together all partners annually for an internal workshop. This year’s invited speakers were Birgit Penzenstadler from Chalmers and Fredrik Dahlgren from Ericsson. Birgit Penzenstadler is an Associate Professor in Interaction Design and Software Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. With ten years of experience and research interest in the relationship between sustainability and software engineering, she has focused on artifact-based requirements engineering and sustainability-oriented requirements engineering. Joining remotely, she presented various tools to make research more sustainable in several different respects. With concrete examples, the presentation offered useful tips for participants, and the ensuing discussion covered topics ranging from how to initiate sustainability efforts to the time aspects of running long-term sustainable projects (or knowledge centers).
Fredrik Dahlgren shared his personal experiences from a career at the intersection of academia and industry collaboration. He described the differing requirement profiles of industry and academic partners, and also highlighted the role of research funders in the research and development ecosystem. Fredrik Dahlgren has had a long career at Ericsson with extensive academic collaborations and currently serves as Head of Device Platform Research and Program Manager of the Device Research Program, as well as Chairman of the Board for NextG2Com.
In the afternoon of the full-day workshop, participants gathered for themed workshops, and partner presentations from three partner companies: Acconeer, Cognibotics, and Remotive Labs. The day was concluded by poster session with the NextG2Com doctoral students and a joint dinner for all workshop participants.
